Ingredients
  

Chalk Ingredients

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar Be prepared for fizzing!
  • various food coloring Add to achieve desired colors.

Tools

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 muffin tin or silicone molds For shaping the chalk.
  • 1 baking sheet To catch drips when pouring.
  • optional essential oils For fragrance.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Cover your work surface to catch spills.
  • Gather all materials and tools to ensure smooth crafting.

Mixing

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda.
  • Gradually add 1/2 cup of water to the baking soda and stir until you have a smooth paste.
  • Slowly pour in 1/2 cup of white vinegar and stir gently, allowing the fizzing reaction.

Coloring and Molding

  • Divide the mixture into separate bowls for different colors.
  • Add food coloring to each bowl until the desired color is achieved.
  • Pour the colored mixtures into your muffin tin or silicone molds, filling each section but avoiding overflows.

Drying

  • Place the molds on a baking sheet to catch drips.
  • Allow the chalk to dry for 24 hours or until completely hard.

Completion

  • Once dried, remove the chalk from molds and enjoy your fizzing sidewalk chalk outside!

Notes

Tips: Swap baking soda for corn starch for a smoother texture, mix glitter for added sparkle, and experiment with essential oils for unique scents.
