Ingredients
  

Chalk Ingredients

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup corn starch
  • Food coloring (your choice of colors) Customize colors as desired
  • 1/2 cup vinegar Used when drawing

Equipment

  • Muffin tin or silicone molds
  • Spoon or whisk

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of corn starch.
  • Slowly add 1/2 cup of water while stirring continuously to prevent lumps.

Coloring

  • Divide the mixture into separate bowls based on how many colors you want.
  • Add your desired food coloring to each bowl, mixing well until the colors are vibrant.

Shaping

  • Pour the colored mixtures into a muffin tin or silicone molds, filling them up to the top.
  • Tap gently to remove any air bubbles.

Setting

  • Allow the mixture to dry for at least 24 hours until hardened.
  • Once dry, carefully pop the chalk out of the molds.

Using the Chalk

  • When ready to use, spray or pour vinegar on the chalk while drawing on the sidewalk.
  • Enjoy watching the fizzing reaction as the vinegar interacts with the baking soda!

Notes

Customize colors, experiment with different molds, and try adding a few drops of essential oils for scented chalk. For easier cleanup, use large paper sheets before rinsing.
