Fizzy Chalk Paint
Create your own fizzy chalk paint for a fun and interactive art project that combines creativity with science!
Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup Baking soda Main base for the paint
- 1/2 cup Cornstarch For texture
Wet Ingredients
- 1/2 cup White vinegar Creates the fizzing reaction
- various colors Food coloring To create different colors

Supplies
- 1 Mixing bowls
- 1 Whisk
- 1 Squeeze bottles or containers For storing the paint
- optional Trays or cookie sheets For mixing and easy cleanup
Instructions
Preparation
- Find a clean, outdoor surface or use trays for easy cleanup.
- Lay down newspaper or a tablecloth to protect surfaces if desired.
Mixing Ingredients
- In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda with 1/2 cup of cornstarch.
- Slowly pour in 1/2 cup of white vinegar and watch the mixture fizz.
Coloring
- Divide the mixture into separate bowls for each color.
- Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl and stir until combined.
Filling Bottles
- Use a funnel to transfer the colored paint into squeeze bottles or containers.
Creating Art
- Take your fizzy chalk paint outside and squeeze it onto your desired surface.
- Watch it fizz as you apply it for an artistic experience!
Notes
Experiment with mixing different food colors to create new hues. Substitute cornstarch with flour for different effects. Add glitter for sparkly effects. This paint is temporary and washes away with water.
