  • 1 cup White vinegar
  • a few drops Food coloring or liquid watercolors Substitute-friendly.
  • 2-3 small Bowls or containers For mixing.
  • 1 large Tray or baking sheet To catch any mess.
  • 1 sheet Thick watercolor paper or sturdy cardstock
  • 1 spoon Spoon For mixing.
  • optional Paintbrushes or droppers For more control.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Begin by placing your thick paper on a tray to catch any excess fizz and color.
  • In a separate bowl, mix 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda with a splash of water to create a paste.
  • Divide your mixture into small bowls and add a few drops of food coloring to each one.
  • In another bowl, pour the white vinegar, ready to react with your colored mixtures.

Painting

  • Using a spoon, drop spoonfuls of the baking soda mixture onto the thick paper.
  • Carefully drizzle the vinegar over the baking soda blobs, and listen closely as they fizz and bubble.
  • As the fizzing settles, watch the colors spread and mix. Use a brush or dropper if you feel inspired.

Drying and Displaying

  • Allow your creations to dry fully before displaying them.

Notes

To keep your fizzy paintings intact, store them in a protective sleeve or frame. You can also revisit the experience by gathering the supplies again.
