Ingredients
  

Volcano Ingredients

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup liquid soap (dish soap or hand soap) Ensure it foams well.
  • 1/4 cup vinegar Can substitute with lemon juice.
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • food coloring (various colors) Mix colors for a vibrant look.

Additional Materials

  • Plastic or paper cups
  • Tray or baking sheet To catch overflow.
  • Spoon for mixing

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Lay down a tray or baking sheet to catch any overflow during the eruption.
  • Gather all your materials within reach.

Mix Ingredients

  • In a plastic or paper cup, add 1 cup of baking soda.
  • Pour in 1/2 cup of liquid soap, and stir gently. The mixture may become thick; that's okay!

Add Colors

  • Squeeze in several drops of food coloring. Feel free to mix colors for a vibrant look!

Combine with Vinegar

  • In a separate cup, mix 1/4 cup of vinegar with 1/2 cup of warm water.
  • Pour this vinegar mixture over the baking soda and soap mixture.

Erupt!

  • Stand back and watch the volcano erupt! The reaction between the baking soda and vinegar will create a bubbly explosion of foam.

Notes

Different scents can be achieved by using scented liquid soaps. You can also add glitter for extra sparkle or change the food colors for a unique display. Scale up the quantities for bigger eruptions or multiple volcanoes.
