  • 1 jar Glass jar with lid (mason jar or any clear container)
  • 1 cup Epsom salt or sugar Epsom salt creates a more crystalline effect.
  • 2 cups Water
  • a few drops Food coloring (optional) For a colored effect.
  • 1 bottle Adhesive (PVA glue or Mod Podge) For securing decorations.
  • 1-2 teaspoons Glitter (optional) For extra sparkle.
  • as needed Small decorations (mini figurines, candles, etc.) Personalize your jar.
  • as needed Twine or ribbon (for decoration) For lid decoration.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Start with a clean glass jar. Make sure it’s dry and free of any residues.
  • If desired, decorate the lid with twine or ribbon for an added touch.

Mixing

  • In a bowl, mix 1 cup of Epsom salt with 2 cups of water.
  • If you want to add color to your ‘snow,’ incorporate a few drops of food coloring.
  • Stir thoroughly until the salt is dissolved.

Assembly

  • Pour the solution carefully into the jar so it fills about halfway.
  • Add any small decorations into the jar, positioning them creatively.
  • To create a snowy effect, top your jar with a layer of Epsom salt or sugar, leaving some at the bottom mixed in the solution.
  • Secure the lid on tightly.

Finishing Touches

  • Place your Frozen Snow Crystal Jar in a prominent spot. Observe how the crystals form over time!

Notes

Experiment with different food coloring combinations. Use different sizes of salt crystals for varied texture. Place a small LED tea light inside for a glowing effect. Switch out decorations based on holidays.
