Preparation

  • Choose a wooden piece to use as the feeder. If rough, gently sand any harsh edges with fine sandpaper.
  • Using a knife, slice the fruit into small, bite-sized pieces.
  • Cut a length of twine about three feet long and tie one end securely around a corner of the wooden base.

Assembly

  • Thread the fruit and grains onto the twine using a skewer or stick, alternating for a balanced visual.
  • Tie a knot at the end of the twine to secure the last piece.
  • Hang the feeder in a visible spot, such as a tree or window hook, and appreciate your creation.

Notes

Regularly replenish the fruit and grains to sustain your avian visitors. Maintain the feeder by washing it gently with warm, soapy water after some time.
