Ingredients
  

Materials

  • 1 large bowl Large bowl or container
  • 1 cup Water
  • 3 tablespoons Borax (sodium borate)
  • as needed Food coloring (optional) For colorful designs
  • 1 spoon Spoon for stirring
  • as needed Paper towels For drying eggshells
  • optional Glitter For extra sparkle
  • as needed Empty eggshells (cleaned and dried) Use emptied and thoroughly cleaned eggshells

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Carefully crack open the top of the eggshell to create a small opening.
  • Rinse the inside with water and let it dry completely upside down on a paper towel.

Make the Crystal Solution

  • In a large bowl, add 1 cup of water.
  • Gradually add 3 tablespoons of Borax while stirring until dissolved.
  • For a colorful twist, add a few drops of food coloring and mix well.

Pour and Set

  • Pour the Borax solution carefully into each eggshell, filling it up to just below the opening.
  • Place the filled eggshells in a safe spot where they won’t be disturbed.
  • Let set for 24-48 hours, observing as the crystals begin to grow.

Notes

Try using plastic eggs for a sturdier project. Experiment with different solubility agents like sugar or salt for varying results.
