Galaxy Crystals in Eggshells

Ingredients
Materials
- 1 dozen Eggshells (cleaned and dried) Make sure they are thoroughly cleaned and dried.
- 1 cup Water Hot water for mixing.
- 3 tablespoons Borax Can be found in laundry aisles.
- various drops Food coloring Choose various colors for decoration.
- as needed Small bowls or containers for mixing Based on how many colors you would like to use.
- 1 spoon Spoon For mixing the solution.
- optional Glitter Use for added sparkle.
Instructions
Preparation
- Carefully crack open eggs and separate the yolks from the shells.
- Rinse the eggshells thoroughly and let them dry. They should be clean and completely dry before use.
Mix the Solution
- In a bowl, combine 1 cup of hot water with 3 tablespoons of borax.
- Stir well until the borax is completely dissolved.
Adding Color
- Divide the solution into smaller bowls or containers based on how many colors you’d like to use.
- Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl and stir gently to create vibrant hues.
Creating the Crystals
- Place the eggshells upright in a secure position, like an egg carton.
- Carefully pour the colored solution into each eggshell, making sure not to overfill.
- Optional: Sprinkle glitter on top for extra sparkle.
Wait for Crystals to Form
- Allow the eggshells to sit undisturbed for at least 24 hours.
- Once the crystals have formed, you’ll notice the beautiful galaxy-like patterns emerge.
Notes
Experiment with mixing different colors and sizes in each eggshell. Incorporate a few drops of essential oil for a scented touch. You could also use small containers or jars for a different look.
