Galaxy Jar
Create a visually stunning and relaxing DIY Galaxy Jar using common household materials that glow in the dark.
Ingredients
Materials
- 1 jar Clear glass jar with a lid
- cotton balls or cotton pads Cotton balls or cotton pads
- 4 colors Non-toxic paints (dark blue, purple, black, and white) Glow-in-the-dark paint optional
- 1 brush Paintbrush
- water Water (for thinning the paint)
- 1 bowl Mixing bowl
- 1 spoon Spoon for mixing
- small Small glitter (optional)
- 1 light LED tea light (optional)
Instructions
Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, combine your non-toxic paints with a little water to achieve a spreadable consistency.
- Mix different shades of your chosen colors for added dimension.
Layering
- Start with a layer of cotton balls at the bottom of the jar and pull apart each cotton ball to create a fluffy texture.
- Dip your paintbrush into your mixed paint and lightly brush it onto the cotton.
- Apply darker colors in the bottom layers and lighter shades towards the top.
- Continue layering cotton balls and painting to create a gradient effect.
- Save some time for adding any glow-in-the-dark paint.
Finishing
- For extra sparkle, sprinkle a bit of glitter as you go.
- Once satisfied, seal the jar with its lid and allow it to dry completely.
- Place an LED tea light at the bottom for a magical glow when the lights go out!
Notes
Experiment with different color palettes, add charms or stones, and consider using essential oils for fragrance. Use different jar sizes for unique looks.
