Instructions
Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, combine baking soda and cornstarch.
- Gradually add water while stirring to avoid lumps.
- Mix until the consistency is smooth and similar to pancake batter.
Color the Mixture
- Divide the mixture into separate bowls.
- Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl and mix thoroughly.
- Blend different colors to achieve a galaxy effect.
Shape the Ornaments
- Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes from your colored mixtures.
- Place the shapes on the baking sheet.
Create the Galaxy Effect
- Use a toothpick or skewer to swirl colors together for a galaxy look.
- Add more colors where desired for a vibrant finish.
Bake
- Bake the ornaments in the preheated oven for about 1-2 hours.
- Watch closely to avoid over-baking; they should harden but not burn.
Cooling and Finishing Touches
- Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool completely.
- Use a skewer to make a small hole at the top for hanging if not done before baking.
- Thread string or ribbon through the holes.
