Ingredients

For the Playdough

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups water
1 cup salt
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons cream of tartar Can be omitted but may affect stretchiness.
Food coloring (various colors: blue, purple, black) Use to create vibrant colors.
Glitter (optional) For a sparkling effect.

Wax paper or plastic wrap For wrapping the playdough.
Airtight container To keep the playdough fresh.

Instructions

Preparation

In a mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, cream of tartar, and vegetable oil. Stir well to combine.
Gradually pour in water while stirring the mixture continuously until well combined.

Cooking

Transfer the mixture into a saucepan over medium heat. Continuously stir to avoid lumps.
Cook until the dough thickens and begins to pull away from the sides, approximately 3-5 minutes.

Finishing Touches

Once thick, remove it from the heat. Let it cool down for a few minutes.
Once cool enough to handle, knead the dough for a minute to enhance its smoothness.
Divide the dough into portions. Add food coloring to each and knead until the color is evenly distributed.
For a galaxy effect, combine different colors but avoid over-mixing. Sprinkle with glitter as you go for a stellar sparkly finish!

Notes

Experiment with different combinations of food coloring, add essential oils for a scented playdough, or incorporate items like sand for additional texture. Store in an airtight container.
