Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the unflavored gelatin with water.
  • Whisk until fully dissolved, ensuring there are no lumps.
  • Add food coloring to achieve your desired vibrancy, mixing well.

Add Flowers

  • Arrange fresh or dried flowers in the shallow dish.
  • Pour the gelatin mixture over the flowers until they are fully submerged.
  • Gently press the flowers down to ensure they are encased.

Let It Set

  • Cover the dish with plastic wrap to keep dust out.
  • Place in the refrigerator for 4-6 hours, or until the gelatin has completely set.
  • The mixture should be firm to the touch.

Remove and Dry

  • Carefully lift the gelatin suncatcher out of the dish.
  • Trim any excess gelatin from the edges using scissors.
  • Place on a baking sheet to dry completely (about 1-2 days).

Hang and Enjoy

  • Use string or fishing line to hang your suncatcher in a sunny spot.
  • Watch as sunlight filters through, illuminating the floral designs.
