Glitter Heart Suncatchers

Ingredients
  

Materials

  • 1 sheet Clear plastic sheets or wax paper For the base of the suncatcher.
  • 1 bottle Mod Podge or white school glue To adhere glitter.
  • 1 variety Glitter (various colors) Choose your favorite colors.
  • 1 pair Scissors For cutting the shape.
  • 1 unit Heart-shaped template or cookie cutter For tracing the heart shape.
  • 1 brush Paintbrush or sponge To apply the glue.
  • 1 piece String or fishing line For hanging the suncatcher.
  • 1 optional Hole punch For creating a hole to add the string.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Place your heart-shaped template on the clear plastic sheet or wax paper.
  • Trace around the template with a pencil, creating the shape you’ll fill with glitter.

Applying Glue

  • Using a paintbrush or sponge, spread a layer of Mod Podge or white school glue within the heart outline.
  • Tip: Start from the center and work your way out for even coverage.

Adding Glitter

  • Sprinkle your chosen glitter over the glued area while it’s still wet.
  • Sensory Cue: Feel the grains of glitter as they stick to the glue.

Drying

  • Allow the suncatcher to dry completely, ideally for a few hours or up to overnight.

Cutting Out the Heart

  • Once dry, carefully cut out the heart shape, following your initial outline.
  • Tip: For a cleaner edge, use sharp scissors!

Making a Hanging Loop

  • If desired, use a hole punch to create a hole at the top of the heart.
  • Thread string or fishing line through the hole and tie a knot for hanging.

Notes

Mix glitter colors for a multi-dimensional effect. Use colored tissue paper instead of glitter for a softer look.
