Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with whole wheat or gluten-free flour.
  • 1 cup salt Regular table salt works well.
  • 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
  • 1/2 cup glow-in-the-dark powder (non-toxic) For best results, use quality glow powder.

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 cups warm water Warm water helps with the mixing.
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Optional Additions

  • Food coloring For customizing colors.

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, cream of tartar, and glow-in-the-dark powder.
  • In a saucepan, blend warm water and vegetable oil.

Cooking

  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture over medium heat. Stir continuously.
  • Keep stirring until the dough begins to form and pulls away from the sides of the pan.

Finishing

  • Once it’s cool enough to handle, knead the dough on a clean surface for a few minutes until smooth.
  • Add food coloring at this stage if desired, mixing thoroughly.
  • Place the dough in an airtight container to preserve its freshness for future play.

Notes

To enhance the playdough, you can add few drops of essential oils for scent or incorporate materials like fine sand or glitter for different textures. For varying brightness, you can use different brands or types of glow powder.
