Materials for Sensory Jars

  • 1 unit Clear jars (glass or plastic)
  • 3-5 sticks Glow sticks (various colors)
  • 1 cup Water Fill about three-quarters full
  • optional Glitter or confetti For extra visual appeal
  • optional tablespoon Glycerin For thicker consistency
  • 1 unit Measuring cup
  • optional unit Funnel To assist with pouring

Instructions

Preparation

  • Activate the Glow Sticks: Bend and shake each glow stick until it glows brightly.
  • Cut and Pour: Carefully snip the top off each glow stick and pour the contents into your jar. Be cautious, as the liquid can stain.

Assembling

  • Add Water: Using a funnel, add water to the jar, filling it about three-quarters full.
  • Add Optional Ingredients: If desired, add glitter or confetti for extra visual appeal. Glycerin can be added for a thicker, slower movement of contents.

Sealing the Jar

  • Tightly Close Lid: Ensure the jar is tightly sealed to prevent any spills or leaks.

Enjoying

  • Mix It Up: Gently shake the jar to mix the contents. Place it in a darkened room, and watch as it glows beautifully!

Notes

Color Combinations: Use multiple glow sticks for a rainbow effect. Add Elements: Incorporate small toys or themed decorations for a fun twist. Glow Duration: Use different glow sticks to see which last the longest and are the brightest. Create Themes: Tie colors to special occasions (e.g., red and green for Christmas).
