  • Set up a clean, flat surface to work on, placing the tray or baking sheet beneath the jar to catch any spills.
  • In a small bowl, combine the baking soda, water, corn syrup, and food coloring.
  • Stir with a craft stick or spoon until all ingredients are well blended.
  • If using glow-in-the-dark paint, mix it in now for an extra glow effect.
  • Slowly pour the mixture into the glass jar, filling it about halfway.
  • Allow the mixture to settle for a few minutes.
  • Over several hours or overnight, watch as the baking soda crystallizes and forms a tree-like structure.
  • Once fully formed, turn off the lights and see your glowing baking soda tree illuminate the room.

Notes

Customize colors by experimenting with different food coloring combinations. Add glitter for a sparkly twist, or use different sized jars for mini trees or larger ones.
