Ocean Jar Components

  • 1 jar A glass jar with a lid Any clean glass jar will do.
  • 1 cup Sand Fine grains will mimic the beach.
  • 5-10 pieces Small seashells and pebbles Gathered from the beach or craft store.
  • 1 piece LED tealight candle For safety and longevity.
  • 2-3 drops Blue food coloring or glitter For that oceanic touch.
  • optional amount Water To create a layered look.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start with your clean glass jar. Notice the smooth surface as you hold it. Set it down gently on your workspace.
  • Add a layer of sand to the bottom of the jar. You might enjoy the way it sifts through your fingers, creating a cozy beach layer.
  • Layer in your small seashells and pebbles at random spots. Use a gentle touch, allowing the shells to rest naturally on the sand. Pay attention to their colors and textures.
  • If using water, pour it in slowly until it reaches just below the top layer of sand. The water should feel cool, and you may catch a glimpse of bubbles as it settles.
  • Add a few drops of blue food coloring or a sprinkle of glitter for a shimmering effect. As you drop in the coloring, enjoy how it swirls and mingles in the liquid.
  • Place the LED tealight in the center of the jar. Allow yourself to feel the warmth of the artificial light as you prepare to turn it on.
  • Once everything is arranged to your liking, secure the lid if you have one. With a steady hand, turn on the tealight and watch with delight as the soft glow starts to fill the jar.
  • Step back for a moment, taking in the beauty of your creation. Let it inspire a moment of quiet reflection.

Notes

To ensure longevity, keep your jar in a cool, dry place when not in use. Cover it with a soft cloth if concerned about dust.
