Preparation

  • Choose a clean, flat surface to work on.
  • Lay down newspaper or a plastic sheet to catch any spills.

Creating the Glue Mixture

  • In a small container, mix a few drops of food coloring or liquid watercolors with clear glue.
  • Use a paintbrush or stir stick to blend the colors until you reach your desired hue.

Designing the Suncatcher

  • Cut wax paper or plastic wrap into your desired shape (circle, heart, star, etc.).
  • Apply your colored glue mixture onto the wax paper, using a paintbrush for precision if desired.
  • Experiment with layering colors or adding more embellishments like glitter for extra sparkle.

Drying the Suncatcher

  • Once you’re satisfied with your design, let the suncatcher dry for several hours or overnight.
  • Ensure the glue is fully set before removing it from the wax paper.

Finishing Touch

  • Once dry, gently peel off the suncatcher from the paper.
  • Hang it in a sunny window and enjoy the beautiful colors that dance in the light!

Notes

For educational and creative fun, involve children in the crafting process. Consider using natural colorants if food coloring is unavailable.
