Craft Materials

  • 5 pieces Green crayons (or a mix of colors)
  • 1 piece Baking sheet or silicone mat
  • 1 piece Parchment paper
  • 1 piece Cookie cutter (raindrop shape)
  • 1 unit Oven Preheated to 200°F (93°C)
  • 1 piece Scissors
  • 1 piece Hole punch (optional)
  • 1 piece String or ribbon (for hanging)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your materials in a clean, flat area.
  • Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C).

Shaving Crayons

  • Carefully peel the wrappers off the crayons.
  • Use a sharp knife or crayon sharpener to shred the crayons into small pieces.

Arrange Crayon Pieces

  • Place a piece of parchment paper onto your baking sheet.
  • Use the raindrop-shaped cookie cutter as a mold. Fill it with the shaved crayon pieces.

Melting Crayons

  • Carefully transfer the baking sheet to the preheated oven.
  • Let it melt for about 10 minutes, watching closely as the crayons melt into a smooth, colorful puddle.

Cooling and Shaping

  • Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let it cool completely (about 30-45 minutes).
  • Once cooled, gently lift the suncatcher from the mold. Trim any excess paper if needed.

Adding Hanging Mechanism

  • If desired, punch a hole at the top of the raindrop and loop a piece of string or ribbon through for hanging.

Notes

Experiment with different colors, shapes, and even add glitter for extra sparkle!
