Ingredients
  

Materials

  • 5 pieces Green crayons (or any color of your choice) Use old or leftover crayons.
  • 2 sheets Wax paper This will hold the melted crayons.
  • 1 iron An iron Set to low heat.
  • 1 flat surface A flat surface (like a table) To work on your suncatcher.
  • 1 pair Craft scissors For cutting shapes.
  • 1 piece String or ribbon For hanging your suncatchers.

Preparation

  • Lay down newspaper or an old cloth to protect your surface from any mess.
  • Gather all your materials for easy access.

Crayon Preparation

  • Unwrap the green crayons and break them into small pieces, about 1-inch chunks.
  • Place the crayon pieces into a small bowl to keep them organized.

Create the Suncatcher Design

  • Lay out two sheets of wax paper on your flat surface.
  • Scatter the broken crayon pieces on one sheet, arranging them to your desired design.

Melt the Crayons

  • Place the other sheet of wax paper on top.
  • Gently press down with your hands to flatten the crayon pieces.
  • Preheat the iron on a low setting, and once ready, carefully iron over the wax paper in a circular motion.
  • Watch as the crayons melt and blend, creating beautiful patterns. Be cautious – the wax can get hot!

Cut and Finish

  • Once the crayons have melted and cooled, carefully peel apart the wax paper.
  • Cut out raindrop shapes or any other design you like from the melted crayon sheet.
  • Use scissors to create holes in the top of each raindrop for hanging.

Hanging Your Suncatchers

  • Thread a piece of string or ribbon through the hole and hang your suncatcher in a bright window.
  • Enjoy watching the sunlight dance through your colorful creation!

Notes

Mix different colors for diverse designs. Supervise children when using the iron.
