  • various shades Green crayons Use multiple shades for varied colors.
  • 1 sheet Parchment paper To place crayon pieces on for melting.
  • 1 tray Cookie sheet or baking tray For baking the crayon pieces.
  • 1 unit Oven Preheat to melt the crayons.
  • 1 unit Scissors For cutting out shapes after cooling.
  • 1 unit Hole punch (optional) To create a hole for hanging.
  • 1 unit String or ribbon For hanging the suncatcher.

Preparation

  • Gather all materials on a clean, sturdy surface.
  • Preheat the oven to 200°F (93°C).

Making Suncatchers

  • Unwrap the green crayons and break them into small pieces (about 1-inch size).
  • Lay parchment paper on the cookie sheet.
  • Scatter the crayon pieces on the parchment, allowing space between them for melting.
  • Carefully place the cookie sheet in the oven.
  • Bake for about 10-15 minutes until fully melted.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely (about 30 minutes).
  • Once cooled, peel the parchment away and cut out your desired shapes.
  • If you want to hang your suncatcher, use a hole punch to make a hole at the top.
  • Thread the string or ribbon through the hole, creating a loop for hanging.

Notes

Customize your suncatcher by mixing different colors or using cookie cutters for unique shapes. Properly made and cared for, these suncatchers can last for years.
