Ingredients

Materials

  • Assorted pieces Green crayons (or assorted colors)
  • 1 sheet Wax paper
  • 1 unit Oven or a heat source (like an iron)
  • 1 pair Scissors For cutting shapes
  • 1 optional Hole punch For hanging options
  • 1 length Yarn or string for hanging Optional for hanging the suncatcher
  • 1 unit Baking sheet If using an oven

Instructions

Preparation

  • Unwrap all green crayons and break them into small pieces (about 1-inch long).
  • Lay down wax paper on a flat surface. You can place another sheet on top for later.
  • Spread the crayon pieces out on one layer of wax paper in a fun design or pattern.

Melting the Crayons

  • Using an oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the wax paper on a baking sheet and put it in the oven for about 5-10 minutes, watching closely until the crayons melt.
  • Using an iron: Place a second layer of wax paper on top and carefully iron over it. The heat will melt the crayons quickly.

Shaping and Hanging

  • Remove from heat when melted and allow it to cool slightly before cutting into desired shapes using scissors.
  • Optional: Use a hole punch to make a hole at the top and thread yarn or string through it for hanging.

Notes

Encourage creativity by mixing colors and trying different shapes. Use seasonal colors for festive decorations.
