  • 1 sheet Green construction paper or card stock
  • 1 bottle Non-toxic paint (green) Other colors may be used as well.
  • 1 set Small paintbrushes For painting handprints and trunk.
  • 1 option Gold or silver glitter Optional for decorative sparkle.
  • 1 pair Scissors For cutting the tree shape.
  • 1 tube Glue or double-sided tape
  • 1 set Decorative gems or ornaments Optional embellishments for the tree.
  • 1 piece Ribbon for hanging

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Lay down newspapers or a plastic tablecloth to catch any spills.
  • Gather all your materials to have everything within reach.

Painting

  • Choose a color for the trees, such as vibrant green.
  • Dip your child’s hand in the paint, ensuring even coverage.
  • Press the hand firmly onto the paper, fingers spread out like tree branches.
  • Lift the hand gently to reveal the print. Repeat for additional layers if desired.

Creating the Tree Trunk

  • Using brown paint, use a paintbrush to create a trunk at the bottom of the handprint tree.

Adding Decorative Touches

  • Sprinkle gold or silver glitter on the wet paint for added sparkle.
  • While waiting for the paint to dry, prep decorative items (gems, stickers) to adorn the tree.

Cutting and Displaying

  • Once everything is dry, cut around the handprints to make a tree shape.
  • Use glue or tape to attach any gems or ornaments to the handprint tree.
  • Attach a ribbon at the top for hanging.
