Materials

  • 1 sheet Construction paper (various colors) Different colors can represent different feathers.
  • 1 set Non-toxic washable paints Choose colors like brown, red, orange, and yellow.
  • 1 each Paintbrushes or sponges For applying paint onto hands.
  • 1 packet Googly eyes (optional) Adds character to the turkey.
  • 1 bottle Glue
  • 1 pair Scissors For cutting paper.
  • 1 roll Paper towels or newspaper For easy cleanup.

Preparation

  • Lay down newspaper or paper towels to protect surfaces from paint.
  • Gather all materials within reach to make crafting smooth.

Handprint Creation

  • Choose a color for the turkey's body (brown works well).
  • Use a paintbrush or sponge to apply paint to one of the child's hands.
  • Make sure to cover the entire palm and fingers.
  • Carefully press the painted hand onto a piece of construction paper, fingers facing up.
  • Gently lift the hand to reveal the handprint design.

Adding Features

  • Once the handprint dries, glue googly eyes to the palm area to form the turkey's eyes.
  • Using colored paper, cut out a beak and feet and glue them in place.

Decoration

  • Use various colors to paint or cut out feathers.
  • Glue these around the handprint for a festive look.
  • Encourage kids to add their artistic flair with additional drawings or patterns.
