Ingredients
Materials
- 2 Pipe cleaners (red or any color of your choice)
- 1 A plate or shallow dish
- 1 cup Boiling water
- 3 tablespoons Borax Found in the laundry aisle
- as desired Food coloring Optional for coloring the crystals
- 1 A spoon for mixing
- 1 Scissors
- as needed String Optional for hanging
Instructions
Preparation
- Bend a pipe cleaner into a heart shape.
- Twist the ends together to ensure it holds its shape.
Create the Solution
- In a kettle, bring water to a boil.
- In your plate, add about 3 tablespoons of Borax per cup of boiling water. Stir until fully dissolved.
- If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to the mixture for extra flair.
Combine
- Place your heart-shaped pipe cleaner in the Borax solution. Make sure it's fully submerged.
- Let the setup sit undisturbed in a warm area for about 4-12 hours.
Reveal Your Crystals
- After the waiting period, carefully remove the heart and rinse it under cold water.
- Allow it to dry completely before displaying or gifting.
