  • Tissue paper in assorted colors (red, pink, yellow, etc.) Use vibrant colors for maximum impact.
  • Wax paper or contact paper Use contact paper for an easier seal.
  • Scissors Ensure safe handling, especially with young children.
  • Heart-shaped template or cookie cutter For tracing heart shapes.
  • Glue stick (if using traditional wax paper) Not needed if using contact paper.
  • String or ribbon (for hanging) To hang the finished suncatcher.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Lay down newspaper or a craft mat to protect your surface.
  • Gather all materials for easy access.

Creating the Suncatcher

  • Tear or cut the tissue paper into small squares or shapes.
  • Use the heart-shaped template or cookie cutter to draw or trace heart outlines on the wax or contact paper.
  • Cut out the heart shapes to create a frame.
  • Apply a thin layer of glue (if using wax paper) onto one half of the heart shape.
  • Stick the torn tissue paper pieces onto the glued area, overlapping slightly for a stained glass effect.
  • If using contact paper, carefully seal the other side over the tissue paper pieces.
  • For wax paper, apply glue around the edges to hold it all together.
  • Cut around the heart shape, leaving a small border to avoid tearing the tissue.
  • Attach a string or ribbon to the top.
  • Hang near a window to catch the light!
