Ingredients
  

Base materials

  • 2 pieces Pine cones or empty toilet paper rolls Pine cones should be clean and free of debris.

Adhesive

  • 1 cup Peanut butter or lard Use lard if you prefer a more natural alternative.

Birdseed

  • 1 cup Birdseed (wild bird mix) Consider alternatives such as sunflower seeds or peanuts.

Hanging materials

  • 1 roll String or twine Cut a length of about 12 inches for hanging.

Optional decorative elements

  • to taste Ribbon, paint Use non-toxic materials for decorations.

Preparation

  • If using pine cones, ensure they are clean and free of debris. For toilet paper rolls, remove any remaining paper.

Apply the Adhesive

  • Use a knife or sturdy utensil to spread a generous layer of peanut butter (or lard) onto the pine cone or roll.
  • Ensure all surfaces are well-coated, leaving no gaps for the birdseed to escape.

Add the Seed

  • Roll the coated pine cone or toilet paper roll in birdseed until fully covered.
  • Press gently to ensure the seeds stick to the adhesive.

Prepare for Hanging

  • Cut a length of string or twine, about 12 inches long.
  • Thread it through the top of the pine cone or roll and tie a knot for secure hanging.

Hang Your Feeder

  • Choose a suitable location to hang your bird feeder, ideally near a window or in a visible garden spot.
  • Ensure it is securely placed to prevent it from falling.
