  • 1 piece Stirring utensil Wooden stick or spoon
  • 1 piece Thermometer To monitor wax temperature
  • 1 pair Scissors To trim the wick

Instructions

Preparation

  • Lay down newspaper or a protective cloth to catch any spills.
  • Gather all materials within easy reach to streamline the process.

Wax Preparation

  • Use a scale to measure the amount of wax you'll need, typically about one ounce of wax for every ounce of candle volume.
  • Set up a double boiler or place your wax in a microwave-safe bowl.
  • If using a double boiler, heat gently on the stove until fully melted, stirring occasionally.
  • If using a microwave, heat the wax in short intervals (30 seconds) and stir until completely melted.

Adding Fragrance and Dye

  • Once the wax is melted, remove it from heat.
  • Allow to cool slightly, then add fragrance oils and stir well.
  • If you’re using dye chips, add them and mix until the color is even.

Wick Preparation

  • Secure the wick to the bottom of your container using a small amount of melted wax or a wick sticker.
  • Center the wick, allowing it to stand upright. You can use a pencil or chopstick to hold it in place.

Finalizing the Candle

  • Carefully pour the melted wax into your container or mold.
  • Leave some space at the top for any additional wax if needed.
  • Allow the candle to cool at room temperature for several hours to solidify completely.
  • Trim the wick to about ¼ inch above the surface once hardened.

Notes

Customization: Try blending different scents for a unique aroma. Experiment with dye colors or leave the wax natural for a rustic look. Consider adding dried flowers or herbs for visual appeal.
