Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup white school glue
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon borax (or contact lens solution) If using contact lens solution, ensure it contains boric acid.
  • Food coloring (optional) Add gradually for desired shade.
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups
  • Stirring spoon

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of white school glue and 1 cup of water. Stir until fully blended.
  • If you want to add color, do so here. Add food coloring gradually and mix until you achieve your desired shade.

Create the Borax Solution

  • In a separate bowl, dissolve 1 tablespoon of borax in 1 cup of warm water. Stir well until the borax is completely dissolved.

Combine the Mixtures

  • Slowly pour the borax solution into the glue mixture. As you combine them, you will notice the mixture starting to thicken.
  • Stir continuously; the Gak will begin to form.

Knead and Play

  • Once combined, use your hands to knead the Gak for a few minutes. It will become more elastic and easier to handle.
  • Enjoy the stretchy, gooey texture!

Notes

Tips: You can use contact lens solution instead of borax. Add essential oils for scent, glitter for sparkle, or create color layers for a marbled effect. Gak can last several weeks when stored in an airtight container.
