Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free options.
  • 1 cup salt Regular table salt works fine.
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar Helps improve the texture.

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Optional Add-ins

  • as desired essential oils For scenting the play dough.

Preparation

  • In a large pot, combine 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of salt, and 2 teaspoons of cream of tartar. Stir well to ensure even distribution.
  • Add 2 cups of water and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil to the dry mixture. If desired, mix in a few drops of food coloring and essential oils.

Cooking

  • Place the pot over medium heat. Stir continuously for about 3-5 minutes, or until the dough starts to clump and pull away from the sides of the pot.

Kneading

  • Transfer the dough onto a clean countertop or cutting board. Allow it to cool slightly before kneading it for a few minutes until smooth and elastic.

Storage

  • Place the play dough in an airtight container when completely cool. Store in a cool, dry place to prolong its lifespan.

Notes

For added fun, consider color mixing and adding textures like sand or glitter. Experiment with essential oils for different scents.
