Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and cream of tartar. Stir well to ensure even distribution.

Mix Wet Ingredients

  • In a saucepan, mix the water, vegetable oil, and food coloring. If using scented oils, add a few drops at this stage for fragrance.

Heat the Mixture

  • Place the saucepan over medium heat. Continuously stir the mixture until it begins to thicken.

Combine and Knead

  • Once thick, remove from heat and transfer the mixture to a flat surface. Allow it to cool slightly, then knead the dough with your hands until smooth.

Store Properly

  • Place the play dough in an airtight container to keep it fresh and soft.

Notes

Try mixing primary colors to create new shades. Add small items like beads or glitter during kneading for extra fun. Experiment with different essential oils for varied sensory experiences.
