Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 teaspoons cream of tartar

Preparation

  • Clear a flat surface for mixing and gather all materials to have them within reach.

Combining Ingredients

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of salt, and 4 teaspoons of cream of tartar. Stir until evenly mixed.
  • In a separate bowl, mix 2 cups of water, 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, and a few drops of food coloring (if desired) until well blended.
  • Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir continuously to prevent lumps.

Cooking the Mixture

  • Pour the combined mixture into a non-stick saucepan over medium heat. Stir continuously as it cooks until it begins to thicken and form a ball (about 3-5 minutes).

Finalizing the Dough

  • Once thickened, transfer the dough onto a clean surface. Allow it to cool for a few minutes, then knead with your hands until smooth and pliable.
  • Place the play dough in an airtight container to keep it fresh for future play!

Notes

For variations, you can mix different food colors for unique shades, add essential oils for scent, incorporate texture with sand or glitter, and adjust cooking time for temperature preferences.
