Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Common kitchen staple.
  • 1 cup salt Helps with texture.
  • 2 tablespoons cream of tartar Provides stretchiness.

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 cups water Main component for dough.
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil Adds smoothness.
  • Food coloring (optional) Customizes color.
  • Essential oils (optional) For added scent.

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of salt, and 2 tablespoons of cream of tartar. Mix well until all dry ingredients are evenly distributed.
  • In a separate bowl, mix 2 cups of water and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring and essential oils for scent.

Cooking

  • Pour the wet mixture into a saucepan and heat over medium-low heat.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture while stirring continuously.
  • Stir until the dough starts to thicken and pull away from the sides of the pan.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
  • Once cool enough to handle, knead the dough with your hands until smooth.

Storage

  • Place the playdough in an airtight container when not in use.

Notes

For added fun, consider creating themed playdough sets or hosting a playdough party. Variations include adding glitter or using natural dyes.
