Ingredients

Materials Needed

  • 1 sheet Transparent or translucent plastic sheets (like repurposed food containers)
  • 1 cup Glass or plastic beads (easy to find in craft stores)
  • 1 sheet Colorful tissue paper (vibrant shades are delightful)
  • 1 pair Scissors (a sturdy pair will do)
  • 1 unit Hole puncher (helpful for creating holes in paper)
  • 1 length String or fishing line (choose based on your preferred hanging method)
  • 1 unit Adhesive (glue or mod podge for securing various elements)
  • Optional Wire (for more structured designs)
  • Optional Paint (for adding custom designs on the surface)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Begin by preparing your workspace. Lay out your materials, ensuring everything is within reach.
  • If using plastic sheets, cut them into desired shapes—circles, squares, or hearts.
  • Cut colorful tissue paper into small squares or shapes.

Assembly

  • Using adhesive, start layering tissue paper onto the transparent plastic.
  • If you’re using beads, consider their placement now. You can place them along the edges or create patterns.

Finishing Touches

  • Once your design is complete and dried, use the hole puncher to create a small hole at the top of your piece.
  • Thread a piece of string or fishing line through the hole, creating a loop for hanging.
  • Hang your sun catcher where it will catch the light—near a window or in an open space.

Notes

Consider layering sun catchers with new materials or adding fresh designs over time. Keep them in a padded box for storage and protect their surfaces with soft fabric.
