Materials

  • 1 sheet Transparent plastic sheets or clear contact paper For the main structure of the suncatcher
  • Various colors Tissue paper To create the colorful fill
  • 1 pair Scissors For cutting the shapes
  • 1 piece Pencil To draw the hot air balloon shape
  • 1 piece Marker For outlining the shape, if desired
  • 1 stick Craft adhesive (glue stick or liquid glue) For adhering tissue paper
  • 1 piece String or fishing line For hanging the suncatcher
  • 1 piece Hole puncher To make a hole for hanging

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Use a pencil to draw a hot air balloon shape on the plastic sheet.
  • Carefully cut out the balloon shape with scissors.

Assembly

  • Tear the tissue paper into small pieces—about 1-2 inches in size.
  • Lay the frame on a flat surface and adhere the small pieces of tissue paper onto the frame's interior using craft adhesive.
  • Be sure to overlap the pieces to achieve a stained glass effect.
  • If using clear contact paper, place another sheet over the decorated side to seal everything in.

Finishing Touches

  • Use a hole puncher to create a hole at the top of the balloon.
  • Cut a piece of string or fishing line and thread it through the hole for hanging.

Notes

Choose a specific color palette to match your decor. You can decorate with stickers or glitter for added flair. Experiment with different shapes for variety.
