Ingredients
  

Basic Ingredients

  • 1 cup Water
  • 5-10 pieces Natural items (flowers, leaves, berries, twigs) Gather from garden or local area, rinse gently.
  • 1-2 pieces Round or rectangular shallow containers Muffin tins or ice cube trays work well.
  • 1 string String or fishing line For hanging the ice suncatchers.
  • optional as needed Food coloring or glitter For added sparkle.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Choose your shallow containers for shaping the ice.
  • Gather various flowers, leaves, berries, or twigs and rinse them gently.
  • Place the natural items inside the containers and experiment with different arrangements.
  • Carefully pour water into the containers, ensuring the items are submerged.
  • If desired, add food coloring or glitter to the water.

Freezing

  • Place the containers in your freezer and allow them to freeze completely, which may take several hours or overnight.

Finishing

  • Once frozen, run warm water on the outside of the containers to loosen the ice suncatchers.
  • Gently turn them out onto a surface.
  • Thread string or fishing line through the ice suncatchers and hang them outdoors.

Notes

Experiment with different shapes and materials. Create themed designs based on seasons and use this activity to educate about plants and colors.
