Ingredients

Tea Preparation

  • 2 teaspoons dried butterfly pea flowers
  • 1 cup boiling water

Latte Assembly

  • 1/2 cup milk of choice (dairy, almond, oat, etc.)
  • Sweetener of choice (honey, sugar, agave syrup)
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional: lemon juice (for color change and tanginess)

Instructions

Preparing the Butterfly Pea Flower Tea

  • In a heatproof container, add the dried butterfly pea flowers to 1 cup of boiling water. Let them steep for 5-10 minutes.
  • After steeping, strain out the flowers using a fine mesh sieve, and allow the tea to cool.

Assembling the Latte

  • Fill a glass with ice cubes.
  • Pour ½ cup of your chosen milk over the ice.
  • Stir in your sweetener to taste while the milk is cold.
  • Gently pour the cooled butterfly pea flower tea over the milk for a beautiful layering effect.

Optional Color Change

  • For a striking color transformation, add a few drops of lemon juice. Watch the blue tea fade to a mesmerizing shade of purple.

Notes

For a sweeter latte, use flavored syrups or increase the amount of sweetener. Swap dairy milk for coconut or soy milk for a delicious non-dairy alternative. Infuse the milk with vanilla or a dash of cinnamon for enhanced flavor. Use cold water instead of boiling to brew the tea for a less intense flavor.
