Ingredients
  

For the Hot Ice

  • 1 cup baking soda Ensure it's fully dissolved.
  • 1/2 cup vinegar Add food coloring if desired.
  • 1 cup water Used to dissolve baking soda.
  • Food coloring (optional) Choose your desired colors.
  • Ice cubes For additional cooling.

Tools

  • 1 small bowl For the baking soda mixture.
  • 1 large bowl For the vinegar.
  • 1 Plastic spoon or stirrer For mixing.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In the small bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda with 1 cup of water. Stir well until the baking soda is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
  • In the large bowl, pour 1/2 cup of vinegar. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to the vinegar for a pop of color.

Creating Hot Ice

  • Slowly pour the baking soda mixture into the bowl with vinegar and watch closely as the mixture fizzles and bubbles due to the reaction.
  • Once the fizzing stops, pour the resulting mixture onto ice cubes if you’d like to speed up the cooling process. Observe how it solidifies almost instantly into a gel-like ice structure.

Notes

Incorporate flavored extracts or colored dyes for variation. Use molds to create fun shapes. Experiment with different water temperatures.
