Ingredients
  

For the Fireworks Eruption

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1 packet Kool-Aid (any flavor) Choose your favorite flavor
  • 1 cup vinegar Prepare in a separate cup
  • Food coloring (optional) For extra color in the vinegar
  • 1 spoon for mixing A regular spoon will work

Preparation

  • Find a flat, clean area to work. Cover the surface with newspaper or a disposable tablecloth to catch spills.
  • In your clear cup or container, add the 1 cup of baking soda. This will be the base for your eruption.
  • Pour in the packet of Kool-Aid and mix well with a spoon. Notice the vibrant color and aroma that fills the air.
  • In a separate cup, measure out 1 cup of vinegar. You can add a few drops of food coloring here for an extra pop of color.
  • Slowly pour the vinegar mixture into the baking soda/Kool-Aid mix. Watch as it fizzes, bubbles, and creates colorful eruptions resembling fireworks!

Notes

This project is safe for kids, but adult supervision is recommended. Use larger containers for bigger eruptions and incorporate edible glitter for a dazzling effect.
