  • 1 tablespoon Kool-Aid powder (any flavor) Choose your preferred flavor.
  • 0.5 cup Warm water Warm water helps to enhance the reaction.
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda Adds fizz to the mixture.
  • 0.25 cup Vinegar Use white vinegar or apple cider vinegar.

Equipment

  • 2 pieces Clear cups or bowls For mixing and displaying the eruptions.
  • 1 piece Spoon For stirring.
  • 1 tray Tray or baking sheet To catch any spills from the eruptions.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Clear a table and set a tray or baking sheet underneath your cups to catch any fizzing action.
  • Pour about one tablespoon of Kool-Aid powder into a clear cup.
  • Warm half a cup of water and add it into the cup with Kool-Aid. Stir gently and watch the colors swirl.

Creating the Eruption

  • Add one teaspoon of baking soda to the Kool-Aid mixture and stir lightly.
  • In another cup, pour about a quarter cup of vinegar and optionally add a splash of Kool-Aid powder.
  • Slowly pour the vinegar into the cup with the Kool-Aid mixture and step back to watch the fizzing eruption.

Enjoy and Experiment

  • Take a moment to watch and listen to the reaction.
  • Repeat the process using different flavors or proportions to create new eruptions.
