Ingredients
  

For the candy

  • 1 cup black licorice (or your preferred flavor) Feel free to substitute for red or strawberry licorice.
  • 1 packet Kool Aid (any flavor) Use your favorite flavor.
  • 1 cup popping candy (variety of flavors available) Choose different popping candy flavors for variety.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar This is mixed with Kool Aid powder.
  • 1 tablespoon corn syrup Helps to bind the ingredients together.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Clean and organize your workspace. Lay out all your materials.
  • Preheat the oven to 200°F (93°C) if you wish to warm your licorice slightly.

Mix Taste & Texture

  • In a bowl, combine the Kool Aid powder with sugar. Mix thoroughly.
  • Put the licorice in a microwave-safe bowl and warm it for 15-20 seconds.

Create Treat Shapes

  • Remove the licorice from the microwave, cut it into small pieces, and shape into bite-sized balls or logs.
  • Roll each piece in the Kool Aid and sugar mixture until fully coated.

Add the Popping Candy

  • Immediately roll or sprinkle the coated licorice pieces with popping candy and press gently.

Set & Cool

  • Lay the finished pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Let them cool completely at room temperature.

Notes

Try different Kool Aid flavors and consider adding a drizzle of melted chocolate for extra sweetness.
