Ingredients
  

Materials

  • 1 cup Water
  • 3 tablespoons Epsom salt or alum You can substitute with rock salt or sea salt as variations.
  • as desired Food coloring Optional for adding color.
  • 1-2 Clear plastic cups or containers For holding the solution.
  • small LED tealight candles To illuminate the geodes.
  • 1 Spoon or stir stick For mixing the solution.
  • 1 Funnel Optional for pouring the solution into cups.
  • 1 Baking tray For drying and catching any spills.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a clear plastic cup, measure 1 cup of water.
  • Add 3 tablespoons of Epsom salt or alum to the water.
  • Stir until fully dissolved—this might take a minute, and you’ll see the solution starting to become slightly viscous.

Adding Color

  • If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to the solution.
  • Stir gently to diffuse the color, enjoying the swirling effect.

Setting the Geodes

  • Pour the solution into smaller cups or molds using a funnel if needed.
  • Place them on a baking tray to catch any spills.

Crystal Growth

  • Let the solutions sit undisturbed in a cool place for 24-48 hours.
  • You will notice crystals starting to form on the surface and sides of the cups.

Final Assembly

  • Carefully remove the geodes from the cups.
  • Place them on top of small LED tealight candles to illuminate your stunning creations.

Notes

Experiment with different colors and shapes for unique geode designs. You can also add glitter for an extra sparkle effect. Supervise children while crafting.
