  • 1 unit Glass container (vase or jar) Choose a clear container for visibility.
  • 2/3 cup Water Fill the container up to two-thirds full.
  • 1 piece Floating wick (or cotton string) Cut to length allowing it to float on the oil.
  • 1 tablespoon Oil (vegetable or mineral) Should float on top of the water.
  • a few drops Food coloring (optional) For adding color to the water.
  • 1 unit Matches or a lighter For lighting the wick.

Preparation Steps

  • Choose a clear glass container to showcase your creation.
  • Clean the interior thoroughly to allow for a clear view of your magical candle.
  • Fill the container about two-thirds full with clean water.
  • Pour a thin layer of oil on top of the water, creating a divided effect.
  • If desired, add a few drops of food coloring and mix gently with a spoon.
  • Cut a piece of cotton string for the wick and attach one end in a way it can draw oil.
  • Carefully light the exposed part of the wick to enjoy the floating flame.

Notes

Experiment with colors and use scented oils to enhance the ambiance. You can also use different shaped containers for unique designs. Always prioritize safety and never leave the candle unattended.
