Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with whole wheat flour.
  • 1/2 cup salt Normal table salt.
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar Helps to stabilize the dough.

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup water Room temperature water.
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil Any neutral oil will work.
  • optional food coloring To add color to the dough.
  • optional essential oils For scent during kneading.

  • 1 mixing bowl For combining ingredients.
  • 1 stove For cooking the dough.
  • 1 spoon or spatula For stirring ingredients.
  • 1 airtight container For storing the dough.

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and cream of tartar. Stir the dry mixture until well-blended.
  • In a separate bowl, combine water and vegetable oil. If using, add a few drops of food coloring.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, stirring continuously until combined.

Cooking

  • Transfer the mixture to a saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until the dough thickens and forms a ball.
  • Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. Once cool enough to handle, knead the dough until smooth and elastic.

Finishing Touches

  • If desired, add a few drops of essential oils during kneading for added fragrance.
  • Place the dough in an airtight container for storage.

Notes

Experiment with different food coloring and essential oil scents. Add fine glitter or small beads for added texture.
