Ingredients
  

Materials

  • 6-8 halves Clean eggshells Ensure they are thoroughly cleaned.
  • 1 cup Pink Epsom salt
  • 2 tablespoons Food coloring (pink, red or purple) Use gel food coloring for vibrant results.
  • 1 cup Water Warm water is ideal for dissolving Epsom salt.
  • Small bowls or cups
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Gently rinse and dry the eggshells. This ensures they’re clean for crafting.
  • Place the eggshell halves on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Create the Solution

  • In a bowl, mix 1 cup of warm water with 2 tablespoons of Epsom salt.
  • Stir until the salt is fully dissolved.
  • Add food coloring to your desired shade of pink and mix well.

Fill the Eggshells

  • Carefully pour the colored solution into each eggshell, filling them slightly.
  • Watch as the water glistens; the vibrant colors begin to mix and swirl.

Allow to Crystallize

  • Leave the eggshells on the baking sheet in a warm, dry place for 24-48 hours.
  • As the water evaporates, beautiful crystals will begin to form.

Final Touches

  • Once dry, gently remove any unformed crystals from the inside of the eggshells.
  • Display your geodes or give them as delightful, sparkly gifts!

Notes

Experiment with different shades of food coloring for varied effects. Adding glitter creates a more textured finish. Optionally, swap Epsom salt for sugar for edible geodes.
