Ingredients
  

Materials Needed

  • 1 jar Clear glass jar (with lid)
  • 1 cup Epsom salt or sugar Choose one for the crystallization process.
  • 1 cup Boiling water Boil the water just before mixing.
  • few drops drops Food coloring Optional for added color.
  • 1 piece Small piece of cardboard or string Used for suspension in the jar.
  • 1 stick Pencil or stick To suspend the platform for crystals.
  • 1 spoon Spoon For mixing the ingredients.
  • 1 measuring cup Measuring cup To measure the water accurately.

Instructions
 

Prepare the Solution

  • Boil Water: Bring a cup of water to a rolling boil.
  • Mix the Ingredients: In a bowl, add 1 cup of Epsom salt or sugar to the boiling water and stir until fully dissolved.
  • Add Color: If desired, mix in a few drops of food coloring to create a vibrant solution.

Set Up the Jar

  • Pour the crystallization solution into the glass jar until it is roughly halfway full.
  • Tie a small piece of cardboard or string to the pencil or stick to help suspend it over the jar.
  • Place the pencil or stick across the top of the jar so that the string or cardboard dangles into the solution.

Watch the Magic Happen

  • Secure the lid on the jar to maintain humidity and prevent contaminants.
  • Place your jar in a safe place away from direct sunlight and observe the crystals forming over the next few days.

Notes

Experiment with different types of salts, colors, and jar sizes for unique crystal trees. Keep the project in a stable environment for best results.
