For the Spray Paint

  • 1 cup water Use clean, room temperature water.
  • 1 tablespoon liquid watercolor or food coloring Choose your preferred color.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch This helps to thicken the paint.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of water with 1 tablespoon of liquid watercolor or food coloring. Stir well until the color is fully dissolved.
  • Gradually add 1 tablespoon of cornstarch to your mixture while stirring. This will help thicken the paint slightly and give it a smoother spray.
  • Mix thoroughly until you achieve a uniform consistency. Ensure there are no lumps of cornstarch.
  • Using a funnel, pour the mixture into a small spray bottle. Secure the lid and shake gently to combine before use.
  • Before applying to your project, test the spray on a scrap piece of paper or canvas. Adjust with more water or cornstarch if needed.

Creating

  • Hold the spray bottle about 6–12 inches away from your surface and spray in sweeping motions. Experiment with different distances and spraying techniques.

Notes

Customize colors and surfaces, and experiment with textures and techniques to create unique effects. For a magical twist, add glow-in-the-dark liquid to your mixture.
