Ingredients

Materials

  • 1 bag Perler beads or fuse beads (variety of colors) Select a variety of colors for a vibrant suncatcher.
  • 1 pan Metal baking pan or cookie sheet Alternatively, use a silicone mold.
  • 1 sheet Parchment paper To line the baking pan.
  • 1 oven Oven For melting beads.
  • 1 set Pliers and jump rings For hanging the suncatcher.
  • 1 tool Drill (optional, for adding holes) Used only if you want to create holes for hanging.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Set up a clean, flat surface for crafting.
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Arrange Your Beads

  • Place parchment paper in your baking pan or cookie sheet.
  • Use pliers if necessary to avoid using fingers directly.
  • Create your design with the beads, leaving spaces for any holes if desired.

Bake Your Beads

  • Carefully place the pan in the oven.
  • Bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until beads are fully melted. Watch closely to avoid over-melting; they should fuse together but not become too flat.

Cool and Remove

  • Safely remove the pan from the oven (use oven mitts).
  • Let it cool for 10 minutes, and then gently pop the suncatcher out of the pan.

Add Hanging Mechanism

  • If you created holes, use the drill to make them larger.
  • Attach jump rings to the holes for hanging.

Notes

Experiment with colors and shapes, use silicone molds, and consider sealing with a clear coat spray for durability. This craft is perfect for creating seasonal themes and hanging them in various locations.
