  • 1 pack Perler beads or other melting beads Choose a variety of colors for best results.
  • 1 piece Metal cookie sheet or an oven-safe tray To hold the mold while baking.
  • 1 sheet Parchment paper or aluminum foil To cover the mold and prevent sticking.
  • 1 unit Oven Preheat to 400°F (200°C).
  • 1 pair Heat-resistant gloves To protect hands when removing the tray from the oven.

Preparation

  • Cover your work area with newspaper or a tablecloth to catch any fallen beads.
  • Choose a mold: Use a metal cookie cutter or silicone mold for fun shapes.
  • Plan your design: Consider blending colors or creating patterns.
  • Fill the mold: Place beads tightly within the mold, ensuring there are no gaps.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Cover the mold: Use parchment paper or aluminum foil over the mold to prevent beads from sticking.
  • Place your filled mold on a metal tray and bake for 10-15 minutes. Watch carefully as the beads begin to melt and blend together.

Cool and Remove

  • Once melted, remove the tray from the oven (use gloves) and allow it to cool for about 30 minutes.
  • Carefully peel the suncatcher from the mold.

Finishing Touches

  • If desired, you can drill a small hole at the top for hanging or add a string or wire for decoration.

Notes

Experiment with different bead colors for gradients or ombre effects. Try different molds like hearts, stars, or animals. If displaying outdoors, consider sealing with a clear spray to protect against the elements.
